Two stars, and it is a shame, because the actual software itself is great. The ability to find orders by scanning a product barcode was essential to our business model, and ShipStation is the only software we found that can actually search for an order by product barcode. The barcode verification for packing has pretty much eliminated our packing errors, and the ability to set up custom parcels has been great too. The software and the automations are genuinely good. The problem is the importing and syncing of orders, especially after changes are made in Shopify, plus continuous ongoing bugs, and for us that outweighs everything good. ShipStation only imports an order once. So if you remove hold tags tags, split fulfilment, or update the shipping location afterwards, it is impossible to get it to sync. We ship from multiple retail locations, and a location change in Shopify simply will not update in ShipStation. We have had orders sit for more than a day without updating, and worse, after a location change orders have flipped to showing as cancelled and refused to load at all, once while our courier was literally waiting at the door and we could not get anyone on the phone. Order splitting is another one. If you split an order in Shopify it does not create two shipments in ShipStation, and we were told we would have to call support to split every order manually on their end, which is not realistic when you split several a day. There is also no way to hold a shipment and release it later, and no way to automatically reprocess rules, so you are constantly clicking Reprocess or calling support to fix things by hand almost daily. The multi-location handling is the core failure. Other shipping software uses child accounts so each location has its own synced account. ShipStation's only answer is separate user logins that each see their own orders, which does not fix the syncing. Even adding a missing barcode to a product in Shopify will not sync back to ShipStation for that order. Barcode scanning also pulls up orders that have already shipped, and the status filter clears every time you scan, which has caused orders to be shipped twice. Onboarding was a nightmare, over a month of daily emails and it still was not right at the end. Great software, held back by sync and reliability problems we cannot work around.
We just finished implementation of ShipStation to move our Shopify orders over to them and we couldn't be happier! Darren Dybala was our implementation Manager and did an incredible job helping us through everything. I was a little worried about only having 3 hours in total call time but we were able to knock it out in less than that and were able to set automations and filters throughout the software to streamline our operations process. He was quick to answer any questions we have, EXTREAMLY informative on how the system works and were already saving $1000's in our first week. Thanks again Darren, great working with you!
We've been using ShipStation for several years now - and it keeps getting better. We're really happy with the reliability and flexibility of its options. The ability to make you own automations is one of their best features. The user interface is simple, logical and easy to navigate. Plus their new WMS features for efficiency are a game changer. However, the best feature of ShipStation is actually its people and team. Whenever we require any service and support, they're always responsive, prompt and helpful. They seriously set the standard when it comes to support. If I could choose 6 stars instead of 5, I would. I'd highly recommend ShipStation, and for well more than just a shipping solution.
ShipStation has been nothing short of revolutionary for our workflows and shipping costs. So glad we made the change! The implementation process is incredibly helpful (thank you Darren!) so if you're worried about the process of learning a new system, don't be, they will walk you through it step by step.
Wow! Only been using ShipStation for about a week, and already we absolutely LOVE the way it handles the customization and workflows our Shopify store requires (such as split shipments). Sertel Carbaquil walked us through the settings quite easily with professionalism & patience, and we couldn't be more thrilled with this service -- THANK YOU!
RJ was very comprehensive on my onboarding, made my shipstation transition seamless. Over the course of the phone calls and emails, our team was equipped with a smoothly executed workflow, which enabled us to trust our shipping is covered, and we can focus our time elsewhere! Thanks RJ
We've been using ShipStation for over three months and have connected it to our Royal Mail business account. While it's one of the better platforms for using your own courier accounts, such as Royal Mail, we've encountered a surprising number of limitations and ongoing issues. Unfortunately, there appears to be little sign of meaningful improvement. For a company that has been in this industry for so long, it's difficult to understand how many essential features are still missing and how many common problems remain unresolved. After reviewing the ShipStation community forums, it's clear that many of these issues have been raised repeatedly by users, with some feature requests and bug reports dating back more than four years without a solution. The platform has strong potential and offers some excellent functionality, but the lack of development in key areas and the slow response to long-standing customer feedback can make it frustrating to rely on for day-to-day operations.
Had a fantastic implementation session with Darren Dybala, who walked me through my premium tier setup, rate shopping automations, ShipStation Connect buildout, and batch shipping logic, along with a range of operational improvements. Great conversation, great guy, and a great product all around.
